Fundamentally fair trade is respect and thought for both people and the environment. Fair trade is an alternative way of trading internationally, which particularly aims at providing for producers and workers financially in the developing countries. Fair trade also targets greater social equality, a better environment and a growing consciousness with the consumers about inequality between rich and poor countries.
A fair price will ensure the producer and the worker a better pay than they can get on the local market. It also means a higher price for the pearls in e.g. Denmark.
